Climate Action Candlelight Vigil – 5:30pm, Saturday, December 12 @ Sid Williams
On Saturday, December 12, Comox Valley residents are invited to take a stand on addressing climate change at a brief candlelight vigil to be held in the fountain area of the Sid Williams Theatre at 5:30 pm.
Photos from this vigil will be posted online at www.350.org <http://www.350.org/> and distributed to media and world leaders. This vigil is one of thousands of events being planned in every corner of the world during the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. As part of this historical day of climate action, our message is clear – “The world wants a real deal at Copenhagen.”
Organizers of the local vigil support the petition to world leaders (www.Avaaz.org) which states “We call on our leaders to go to Copenhagen and sign a global climate treaty that is: /ambitious/ enough to leave a planet safe for us all; /fair /for the poorest countries that did not cause climate change but are suffering most from it, and /binding/ with real targets that can be legally monitored and enforced.” Dress warmly and bring a candle to this family and kid -friendly event. Everyone is welcome.
