An art & literature awareness & fundraising campaign to give everyone the opportunity to contribute to the preservation and restoration of the K’ómoks Estuary with an Online Silent Auction, and a Sponsorship Drive culminating in a ART TOUR & AWARENESS FORUM.
Project Watershed thanks Mountain Equipment Cooperative for their donation of $6,310 towards the creation of a publicly accessible online Interactive Map of the K’ómoks Estuary.
Estuary Events at Elevate the Arts
Project Watershed is presenting Elevate the Estuary at Elevate the Arts as a wrap up of the 2013 Keeping It Living Campaign. Art submitted to the Auction and Competition will be displayed at Zocalo’s from June 3rd to the 8th – you can bid or vote for your favorite artwork onsite or online. June 4th, 6-9pm – Dine Under the Sea
As a kick off to the week’s events Project Watershed will run an Under the Sea Dinner event at Zocalo’s. The dinner will feature a unique seafood focused menu, music by Jilli Martini and more. Reservations are recommended.
June 8th, 10am-4pm – Estuary Mural (participatory art installation)
Project Watershed will erect a large seine net and supply fish cut-outs, “eelgrass” and more for the creation of a one-of-a-kind estuary mural. Come out and add your artistic touch. You can paint, color or otherwise decorate the objects we supply or bring something of your own to add.
June 8th, 10am-12pm – Estuary Photo’s
Make you way down to Simms Park to get a family nature photo taken by Unique Roots Photography. Pose among the greenery for a beautiful and lasting memory. Reservations are recommended.
June 8th, 1pm – Estuary Story Time
Marlet Ashley and Kate Brown have written a series of Children’s books called Revelry on the Estuary. Join them at the library for a reading from the newest book in the series “Penelope Piper’s Great Adventure”.
