Festival season isn’t over yet on Vancouver Island and music lovers of all ages have the chance to be part of an exciting “next generation” music festival taking place at the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds on Saturday and Sunday September 8th and 9th. Rhythm on the Rock is a 2 day grass roots music event featuring a huge variety of emerging artists from a wide range of genres including rock, reggae, indie folk, pop, electronica and funk-soul hop.

Produced by Lightburn Productions and a team of talented community volunteers, Rhythm on the Rock offers music fans a taste of some of the hottest new music being produced Vancouver Island, The Sunshine Coast and Lower Mainland. The focus is original, exciting sounds from talented up and coming musicians who are shaping the incredible music scene on the West Coast right now.

Performers include Peak Performance Project winners Current Swell, Mindil Beach Markets, Maurice, Emily Spiller, Kytami (of Deli to Dublin fame), Island faves Bananafish Dance Orchestra, Annie Becker, Cruel Young Heart, Wilderness Crew, Shane Philip, Vancouver’s Ari Neufeld and many many more. A visit to the festival website offers the stories, backgrounds, passions, trials, past performances and all sorts of adventures from all the ROTR 2012 performers and is well worth a visit.

Families of all shapes and sizes are highly encouraged to come down to the Fairgrounds for the event. The Festival offers plenty of breathing room to spread out your blankets or tarp for the day, set up a shade tent and settle the whole family in for 2 days of wholesome family festival fun. Interactive kids activities, a bounce-a-rama, paths to the river for a refreshing swim, food vendors, a ‘craft village’ and Hula Hooping workshops are all included in the fun.

“Rhythm on the Rock is all about creating a positive space for music lovers of ALL ages to celebrate amazing local and regional talent. We’re youth friendly and welcoming to the young at heart who are excited to discover the new music being created by some of the most innovative artists on the West Coast. ” says Jessie Lightburn, Rhythm on the Rock Producer.

“This 2 day celebration is about bringing our community together, promoting diversity and inclusion, dancing together and enjoying some amazing music! It’s about feeding our souls with positive activities and celebrating together to create the community we all dream of.”
