Why is Google My Business so Important?
Take a second and think about how you as a consumer find a business. Do you search on Google? Look at reviews? Check the opening hours and addresses that pop up beside the Google search? Most likely you use all of that!
That is part of Google My Business, a critical tool to help your consumers find you. This free tool puts you in control of how your business shows up in searches and on Google Maps, and it also helps you show up more prominently in search results.
- Make sure your content is relevant.
- Make sure you have a good Featured Image.
- Make sure your post has a strong, engaging title.
- Make sure you have an Excerpt.
- Categorize your post.
- Choose or create appropriate tags.
- Check if you can link anything in the text.
Accuracy with the details in your Google My Business profile is crucial. Customers, and potential customers, can lose trust in your business if your information is incorrect. At the very least, your business name, address, and phone number should be the same everywhere your business is listed. Ensure your opening hours are displaying correctly and that your website is linked properly.
Google My Business validates your company!
Google developed Google My Business as a way to make it easier for searchers to get the information they need, quickly and conveniently.
Your business address, opening hours and contact information will appear in your Google My Business listing, without the need for someone to click through to your website and go looking. It allows potential customers to more easily find you, and contact you.
But what is google my business?
Google My Business (GMB) is a tool created by Google to help businesses and their customers find each other better. The Google Search Engine’s entire existence revolves around the premise of providing searchers with fast, accurate information. Otherwise, searchers would use another search engine!
Let’s say you searched for our business, Pod Creative, on Google. What comes up? Why our GMB profile of course! It has our hours, phone number, website, Google reviews, and Google Map location all in one easy to access location.
Because of its ease of information, GMB is also a fantastic, and free (!!) local SEO tool. Let’s jump into another example. Say you are trying to find a restaurant for dinner, but are unsure where you would like to go, so you search “restaurants near me.” What does it bring up?
A Google Map showing a variety of restaurants in your area, and the top three closest restaurants to you. All of these suggestions are brought to you by Google My Business! These suggestions show restaurants who have GMB profiles first, with their rating, address, and opening hours prevalent.
Pay extra attention to this part
Google My Business is essential for Local SEO as it enables your business listing to appear in local search results for queries specific to your products or services. Even broad queries with large search volumes display local results in the three-pack, and this is something small business owners can capitalize on.
The must-have’s on your GMB profile
The business’ address. And make sure it’s correct! If the business address is on your GMB profile then it will show up on Google Maps, marking the location and allowing customers to find the business with ease. Incorrect or missing addresses frustrate customers and may result in a loss of business or missed opportunities.
The business’ phone number. It’s a no-brainer! The whole concept of Google My Business is fast, easy-to-access information. Sure customers could go to your website and find the phone number under the contact page, but the ability to access all the information they need in one area is much easier.
The business’ opening hours. Again, another no-brainer! Customers need to know when the business is open when it’s closed, and if holidays will affect the business. Providing customers with accurate, up-to-date opening hours can literally affect the bottom line!
