Comox Valley Project Watershed Society is seeking a part-time Estuary Coordinator to coordinate their restoration and protection efforts on the K’omoks Estuary. This position is to fill in for their present Coordinator who is going on maternity leave. Please do forward this info to interested parties!
General Duties:
This part time position will report to the Board of Directors of the Comox Valley Project Watershed Society through the chairperson of the Estuary Working Group. Working in a complementary fashion with the other organizations and sub committees of the Estuary Working Group (EWG) the Estuary Coordinator will:
Coordinate the meetings and communication of the EWG and its subcommittees – includes preparing Agendas and taking Minutes
Work with the other organizations, individuals and sub committees towards the restoration and protection of the K’omoks Estuary
Coordinate the budgets and fundraising of the EWG and its activities
Maintain the Estuary Stewardship portion of the Project Watershed website
Manage community way donations and spending in relation to Estuary projects
Qualifications:
Degree or experience working in the environmental sector
Intermediate or better computer skills – familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Doc’s, Gmail, Powerpoint a must
Project management experience including budgeting, report writing, people management
Experience working with volunteers and a board of directors
Excellent communication skills
Experience in fundraising and proposal writing
Familiarity with website maintenance a plus
Available evenings or weekends if necessary
Employment Details:
Start date March 10th, 2014
Starting wage $25/hr
Minimum 12 hours/week up to 24 hours/week or more- will vary depending on the projects underway
The position initially runs for 1 year with the opportunity for reappointment
